Carla Ionescu I am so excited to be working on my next book on Artemis of Ephesus! This book will be a bit longer than my Greek Artemis book, and is due to come out May 2023. I am leaving on my research travels this July 2022 and will probably be away in Crete and other parts of Europe until early 2023. Follow my travel stories @ artemisexpert across all the social media platforms :)
Carla Ionescu This question is so tough because I am a terrible, unorganized writer lol I love to research, and uncover the mysteries of a ritual, divinity or community, and I love to travel and make notes of all the sacred sites or temple ruins I come across, but sitting down to write? lol that's a challenge! So I strive by the "write a bit every day" rule when I am writing a paper, or working on a chapter, but to be fully transparent, I usually end up locking myself in my office near the end of a deadline and hammering it all out in a week or two.
Carla Ionescu I've always been fascinated with mythology, but particularly with the way that women's stories, or goddess stories, are told through the Classic patriarchal lens. When I started digging into the worship of Artemis and realized how overlooked and ignored her rituals and history was, I knew this was something I had to pursue and share with the world. She became my muse, my inspiration, and the driving force of my research and travels.
