Luke Summers I've had the idea swirling around my mind for a more than a few years. I've always been intrigued by the paranormal and supernatural. I love watching TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed and True Blood. And my favourite holiday destination is somewhere tropical and hot. So, I thought it'd be a brilliant idea to merge them together. And wahla! Samara Island was born!
Luke Summers Number one inspiration: My readers. And I know that sounds terribly cheesy and cliche. But it's true! I know my audience, I know what they want to read and I want to deliver them a damn good story. Number two inspiration: my connection with the characters I've created in my story. I've created them and now it's my duty to give them life and meaning.
Luke Summers Glad you asked! I'm currently writing my second instalment of Samara Island and the Blood Witch. Yes, that's right! There's gonna be a sequel! *screams*
Luke Summers Read. Read. Read. I can't stress enough the importance of reading! You can learn so much about the style of other authors. Pick what style you like the most. Would you write from a third person or first person. Then write! Write about anything. Before I wrote Samara Island and the Blood Witch, I wrote 5 full-length novels. And if somebody tells you that you can never be a writer, just prove to them that you can by writing your very first story. But don't be fooled, it takes a lot of energy, creativity and dedication to be a writer.
Luke Summers The freedom and the ability to write whatever you want to write about. You can be as bold, crazy and creative as you like. As an author, you can create an entire world and fill it in with exciting characters. Then you decide their fate and develop their story. You have complete power.
Luke Summers The good old fashion writer's block. It happens to everyone, doesn't it? Usually, before I start writing my book, I set out a basic storyboard of the events which will occur within the chapters. I know how to start the story and how it will finish, and then I fill in the middle.
