M. Billiter Deadlines. LOL. I'm hardwired for deadlines. Diehard journalist with a father, who was also a journalist. Deadlines keep me writing whether I "feel" like it or not. HOWEVER, I do love those moments - and they happen often when you're writing under deadline because you're more open to them - but those overheard conversations or that one line that you KNOW will make the perfect opening for the next chapter. Those are golden!
M. Billiter Tune out the internal critic and write. Focus on the next scene in front of you and write. Repeat this process. It's easy to get discouraged by the enormity of writing a book - so instead just write the next scene. Take it one scene/one chapter at at time. Sounds very elementary, but it works. The book will finish itself if you do your 1% and write the next indicated part! Good luck! I'm cheering for you!!
M. Billiter "The Divided Twin" is the second book in the Divided Series!
M. Billiter If I could do this, then I'd be a best selling author! Look to Stephen King! He IS the King of horror!
M. Billiter "Mrs. Everything," by Jennifer Weiner is a must-read for everyone! Loved it. Currently reading Elizabeth Berg's, "What We Keep," which is so well done. Both Weiner and Berg are two of my favorite authors. And, I'm a slow reader so trying to hit my 12 books in a year - not quite there!
