Fictional worlds are the best and boy have authors taken us on some amazing adventures right from our living room. To understand my answer you'd have to know that I love time traveling books. I am constantly thinking about time and those who lived before us. I am a big fan of the 'Outlander' books by Diana Gabaldon. If I could travel between two different time periods, I would probably seek great writers, musicians, poets and inventors who are timeless and study them within their muse. I'm fascinated with Europe and to see it early on would be breathtaking. On the flip side, I am also a space fan (dating back to my childhood and the 70's) so traveling between planets and galaxies with robots, odd species and flying ships would be pretty exciting. I'd visit any planet the Millennium Falcon could take me!

Summer reading for this author has come and gone but I will share my bucket list: Italian. I am obsessed with learning a new language and if you visited my home you'd swear you were in Italy. In my car, there's a CD running each and every time Jarvis (the name of my car) is taking me from point A to point B. In my home, and more often while I am cooking or relaxing on the porch, I listen to, 'Italian in 10 minutes' (this is my favorite resource so far). And when I'm really in fun mode, I grab a box of crayons and color a new page in my 'Kids' Travel Guide; Italy' which highlights Italy's culture, cities, history and cuisine.

My life has not contained mystery and intrigue, therefore it is certainly not worthy of a plot in a book. That being said, my daughter's life is a book in the making. In 2010 she had a double lung transplant, experiencing quite the journey. She is a tough cookie, beautiful in how she views life, competitive down to the bone, and has beaten the odds. With the collaboration of all her doctors and medical specialists, this book is promised to be my best work yet. It will instill promise, inspire and motivate, and educate families going through a similar situation.

I'd like to say there's an organized way I find/create ideas for my novels but somehow it just hits me on the head when I least expect it. While writing "The 8th Journal", I thought, this is it--'ll never have another one (book) in me but now I can't write fast enough. With "Rula" I visualized an old camera in the attic and knew something amazing would be waiting to be discovered!

As an only child my imagination was my biggest asset, especially when I was alone. I would rewrite multiple endings to classic books, create puppet shows for my parents and jot down daily thoughts in a journal. Everything on this planet inspires me to write. My writing, along with my two amazing children, will be my legacy. I want to entertain people and inspire them in multiple capacities.

I am currently juggling three separate projects. One is the release of my second novel in the 'Rula Series' called 'Rula the Candidacy Party', which launches Monday. Rula is a four book series filled with mystery, murder, history and love. It has many twists and turns and contains an intricate plot. With each book leaving a big cliff hanger it is ideal that readers read the books in order, starting with 'Rula The Heist' first.
I am also writing my first children's book. This has been a goal for years but the timing on the prefect collaboration never presented until now. Typically, I am long winded and so keeping it short and sweet is my great challenge. I am excited to share this book with my children and the rest of the world in 2020.
The last project I am working on is near and dear to me; The story of Wrenn Elise, my nine year old daughter. She was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2010 and has pushed me way beyond my comfort zone. This book is a spiritual work, filled with inspiration and information for families who are going through similar challenges.

Take in everything! Meet new people (both old and young). Ask them questions. Let them tell you a story from long ago. If you don't like that concept, open a history book and pick a page full of interesting people and read their background. Great fiction often stems from real life stories that can motivate and inspire. My books usually contain a person of interest from history ( such as King Henry VIII and his Jester, William). I love the historical characters who were surrounded by conspiracy theories. I place them into my world and see where my imagination can take them. Characters should be flawed, heroic, depressed, happy but mostly create realism. I have populated characters while attending a funeral, while sitting on a bus in Paris, standing in line at the grocery store, and while working out at the gym. You never know when an idea or concept for a story will hit you--so have your phone ready and take notes.

Being a writer is cool! There's never a wrong answer! As a terrible test taker, I love that! Writing a novel is like piecing together several small puzzles leading to the bigger picture. Each character along the way talks to me and I am a great listener. Creating scenarios is a natural escape from the daily woes, and believe me, writing has saved me thousands from seeing a therapist. Going away in my 'creative' world calms the soul, instills accomplishment and entertains readers.
