Elizabeth Chiles Shelburne Keep on keepin' on. I've been working on this book forever and I just kept believing it would work. Finally, the story came together. And then the agent and then, FINALLY, the publisher. It was a very long process, but worth it.
Elizabeth Chiles Shelburne Being able to create worlds out of whole cloth. I love that. I'm not a plotter, but a pantser, so I get into it for the characters and then see where the story goes from there. Discovering who a character is and why they do what they is endlessly fascinating.
Elizabeth Chiles Shelburne I'm supposed to "write through it" but too often I let it infect me like a virus, moving from cell to cell, until I am paralyzed with indecision. So, I read a lot of books, think about what's working or not for those books, which ultimately helps me see the way through. I suppose you could say that I "read through it." It's a slower process, perhaps, but it's worked so far. This year, though, as I finish the first draft of my next book, I am determined to try to write through the blocks!
