Lisa R. Schoolcraft The plot for "Smartphone, Dumb User" actually came to me in a dream! I woke up and realized I'd better write it all down. I feared if I fell back asleep I'd get up later and the inspiration would be gone. I was right! After writing the outline of the book down, I went back to bed and woke up with only vague memories of the dream and book plot.
I remember hearing an interview with singer/composer Billy Joel, who said he often got his song ideas from his dreams. And it happened to me too!
Lisa R. Schoolcraft I'm currently working on the sequel to my debut novel "Smartphone, Dumb User." I'd like to take readers on more adventures with Ravyn Shaw. I actually really like this character!
Lisa R. Schoolcraft I write for a living, and my advice for aspiring writers is to write, write, write, and read, read, read. I'd suggest keeping a journal or blog. Get into the habit of writing something every day. And read a wide variety of books. I love reading really good writing. I think it makes me want to be a better writer and to see different ways to write.
Lisa R. Schoolcraft Writer's block is so hard. As a writer/journalist I found coming home to work on my book sometimes difficult. It helped to have a nice "setting" to work. For me, sometimes that was outside on my back patio. Sometimes it was at my desk at my home office. My advice would be to try different locations either in your home or outside of it to see what works for you!
