I write for a living, and my advice for aspiring writers is to write, write, write, and read, read, read. I'd suggest keeping a journal or blog. Get into the habit of writing something every day. And read a wide variety of books. I love reading really good writing. I think it makes me want to be a better writer and to see different ways to write.
