Cass Kim Great question! At this time we don't have a submission process, as it's what I call a creation anthology - each story is written for the anthology after the author is invited, once the parameters and theme have been set. It's currently an invitation-only process, but that may change in the future.
Cass Kim To be honest, when I finished writing "WIlders" I thought it would be stand alone novella. But readers (and I mean, more than 50% of reviewers) kept saying they wanted more, they wanted to know what happened next.

Thus, "Consequences" was born. I had to let the idea of a second book marinate for a while (during the Autumn Nights charity anthology creation). Once I started thinking of what would realistically happen in this 1/2pocalypse sliding into a real apocalypse, I realized I needed to have to main perspectives to tell all the pieces of the story I wanted to tell. And that's why there are alternating chapters from both Renna and Alyssa's point of view.
Cass Kim Sara sat in bed reading, one foot dangling off edge haphazardly. The hand that gripped her ankle was cold, partially rotted, and wore a familiar wedding band.
Cass Kim A spooky short story (around slightly shorter than Rallyist Part One) set in the modern day. It's spooky in the traditional sense, not the zombie sense. Pumpkin patch, dark stormy nights, murky pond. You know the drill.

It's going to be part of 13 story Anthology, "Autumn Nights: 13 Spooky Fall Reads" - I'm super excited for this anthology. All of the stories are so different and all so good! Look for it October 1st (Presales start Sept 1st) 2019.
Cass Kim Just write it!
Also, there comes a point where you have to call it finished. We can edit for years and, depending on our mood, change something every single day. At some point- it isn't perfect (it never is) but it is "good enough" to publish and share.
Also, make sure you have honest beta readers. Sometimes family and friends work. Sometimes they're too nice. We can never get a full picture of how our story reads - we see the details, we know the nuance and lived the characters. Fresh eyes matter. Don't discount the value of an honest (not mean!) beta reading process.
Cass Kim The ability to slip out of yourself and be someone else for a while. I also really love creating these full stories and bringing in old memories through conversation for my characters. I think having characters that feel real, like they've lived real lives before the moment we see them, is very important.
Cass Kim I usually try to push through, knowing that i can edit the area later to make it better. If that isn't working, I just walk away for a while and come back.
