It is my life story.

Initially, the book was to be a personal memoir to my children, who are still very young, 12 and 14 years old, while I’m a senior citizen. I was not confident that I would be around long enough to see them grow into full adulthood, with stable careers and children of their own. The book was a way of leaving something behind that they could draw inspiration and courage from by sharing what I overcame to succeed and that they could too.
After I completed the memoir, I shared the contents of the draft manuscript with family, friends, and colleagues. The feedback I got was that the story was so compelling and inspirational that I should share it with more than just family, but with the world. So, I added more information and decided to publish it.

Decide if your writing just for you and friends or commercially for readers. If you want to sell books then you need to understand what your potential readers want and speak to that. Also, on the business side, you need to decide if you want to try and get a traditional publisher--very hard to do--, go with a self-publisher company--can be expensive and laden with scammers-- or start your own publishing company--a lot, a lot of work.-- Finally, research, research and research before making any decision.
