Shirley, HI! There are so many journals, aren't there!! I love Feminine Collective, Under the Gum Tree, Manifest Station, theSame, Mothers Always Write & Panorama Journal to name a few. I'm always looking stuff up in the classifieds of Poets & Writers website and New Pages website. Chicken Soup for the Soul often has great call outs on their website. Her View from Home also has a really generous writers' community and they pay for their essays based on views. What are some of your favorties?

One of my favorite things about being a writer is diving into a manuscript and creating a world, a community full of beauty and acceptance, friendships and love, and oftentimes great food! I try to create a world I would want to live in. My other favorite thing about being a writer is connecting with other writers and readers. I love talking about words and books and how they make us feel.

Gah! Writer's block is a curse! In non-pandemic times I have a pretty regular writing schedule during the week. As soon as the kids get to school. I get to work and write for 4 to 5 hours every weekday when I'm working on a draft. It's a bit different when I'm in edits or launching a book. But even with a regular schedule writer's block still hits me. I have to admit, there are times I give up and walk away, but not for good. I take walks, bake, watch a home reno show, but I always come back to the writing. I try to set word count goals for myself when I'm in the middle of a first draft and if writer's block hits then, I bribe myself with chocolate or time to read on my Kindle if I finish my word count. Sometimes I just keep writing through the block. I try to remind myself that somedays I will write a lot of crap, and that's okay. Because I can always delete, delete, delete!

I'm currently working on an entirely new contemporary romance series that takes place on a lovely island in the Pacific Northwest. I'm also working on Book 3 in the Rescue Me Series.
