I'm really into memoirs at the moment! I loved Jessica Simpson's and Demi Moore's and I just ordered Holly Madison's about the playboy mansion.

I try my best to work through it. If I'm not under deadline I'll try my best to jot down some form of a draft and then walk away from it for a second. Sometimes I just need a walk, a run, a workout, lunch with a friend, or a good sleep to get over it.

That you can do it anywhere. You don't need a wifi connection, just a place to put your thoughts down. I also love that writing has so many mediums: books, articles, song lyrics, poems, tv scripts, movies, musicals -- I've done it all. There is no limit to what you can write. It's also therapeutic. For me turning my broken heart into art (as Carrie Fisher used to say) has been incredibly healing.

Write! Don't worry if it's not the best thing you've written, just get your thoughts down on paper - or google docs -- or cocktail napkins -- wherever you write. I've always kept diaries or blogs - which was helpful in writing this book. I knew exactly how I felt after my first heartbreak because it was scribbled in my pink sparkly diary next to Joni Mitchell's lyrics and a print out AOL conversation from my high school boyfriend. I guess you could say that was really the first draft of this book!

I'm also a contributing writer for Cosmopolitian, so I'm always writing pieces for their magazine and website -- and sometimes videos that go with those pieces too. I'm also hoping to write a second dating book -- so fingers crossed! I also have some TV and film scripts I'm working on as well - I really do love writing in all of it's forms!

A cup of hot coffee and music. I actually made a Spotify playlist that's in theme with my book to motivate me. You'll notice this book has a lot of song references throughout, I find making a playlist that fits the theme of whatever I'm writing really helps me get in the mood! And then when I edit my work at night -- I like to do it with a glass of wine to make sure I'm being as truthful and vulnerable as I can be.

I felt there was a need for a dating handbook that wasn't so black and white. I wanted to give readers the tools to help them decide if their relationship is working out, which I wish existed when I was dating. This is why my book features charts, quizzes, graphics, and dating advice not just from me. I also wanted to include funny hopefully relatable stories to make people feel less alone with their dating decisions.
