Walrus Oliver, my golden retriever, found a severed hand nestled in the hydrangea on his morning patrol of the yard. When he brought it to me cradled in his soft mouth, I realized it was mine.
Walrus Gaslight Paradise was born from contemplating the aging process, and was then injected with a generally ridiculous sense of humor. Voila.
Walrus I try to find an existing work that I love and dissect why it impacted me. How can I create something that impacts others in a similar way? It's always a good jumping off point.
Walrus So many short stories in the hopper. So many graphical assets and advertisements to make for the existing stories. It's always something.
Walrus Don't ever listen to people who give destructive criticism, they will crush you, and for no good reason. Find people who give you constructive criticism, and surround yourself with them. They will encourage you and you WILL become a better writer as a result.

And never, ever give up.
Walrus When the story comes together in the end.
Walrus First and foremost, ask your friends and other writers for feedback on your ideas. It can shed light on which ideas are deserving of focus, and which should be developed more, or abandoned.

If you're very solitary, find a place or a thing that gives you inspiration, and try to concentrate on that feeling, immerse yourself in it, and start with writing one sentence. More will probably follow.

Or, set yourself and arbitrary deadline, and commit to meeting it. It helps to put pressure on sometimes.
