Alison Craig Write every day. Even for 10 minutes. It is an itch that needs to be scratched and a skill, like any other, that can be learned with diligence and consistency. I left school with no qualifications but loved reading and always wanted to write. Read read read. Read books in the genre you want to write in, and also read everything you can about writing. I loved Stephen Kings book On Writing but there are dozens out there. More you read the better. Download audio books, read kindle books, get onto writing blogs, the internet is a rich resource and a lot of its free. Just do it. You wont regret it.
Alison Craig My most recent book Snowdrops At The Birdie and Bramble is the second in a trilogy, all set in St Andrews in Scotland. Inspiration for the series came from a love of Scotland, the rural wilderness and the drama of the coast, delicious food, romance, humour, restaurants sausage dogs all of which I explore through a cast of characters who I hope are flawed yet engaging enough to care about. My protagonist Maddy Campbell is based on a younger version of me and the sausage dog Frank on my current 4 legged pal, Charlie Chorizo, sausage dog of love...as I like to call him.
