The luminous Lily James was asked this exact question in the delightful film, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Her reply?
"It's the perfect job. Indoors, and always near a teapot."
When I told my mother that I rather fancied this description of an author's life, she told me that in my case, it would be more accurate to say "always near a wine bottle." Well, she's not wrong.
I am possessed of a rather overactive imagination; I always have been. As a writer, I am able to bring the things I dream to life in prose, and there is nothing more thrilling for a lifelong lover of the written word. Unfortunately I fear I have far too many stories in my head to ever tell in a single lifetime, but I am having enormous fun trying!

I write something. Anything. Even if it's terrible - especially if it's terrible! Writing is rewriting, and revising, and editing, and none of that is possible without having something to work with first. That doesn't mean I do not absolutely cringe at the sight of my own horrible writing and begin editing immediately, because I absolutely do, but first I write.
