Jamie Thomas began crafting stories in the fourth grade with a tale of a brother and sister who accidentally bring the birds on their hotel wallpaper to life. Even though she ended with the cliched “It was all a dream” gimmick, she still won a regional young writers competition that year, thus beginning a lifelong love affair with the written word.

A certified Language Arts teacher in the state of Washington, Jamie holds a Master’s degree in English Education and did her graduate research in the area of gender equality in high school literary curriculum. "It's the perfect job. Indoors, and always near a teapot."

When I told my mother that I rather fancied this description of an author's life, she told me that in my case, it would be more accurate to say "always near a wine bottle." Well, she's not wrong.

I am possessed of a rather overactive imagination; I always have been. As a writer, I am able to bring the things I dream to life in prose, and there is nothing more thrilling for a lifelong lover of the written word. Unfortunately I fear I have far too many stories in my head to ever tell in a single lifetime, but I am having enormous fun trying! (less)

I attempted the Goodreads Challenge for 2019 and failed miserably, due in no small part to the fact that I could not could reading the book I was working on over and over again. Here's hoping I have grown as both a writer and a reader in 2020, because I am determined to read fifty books this year in addition to finishing my second novel.
