My favorite thing about being a writer is creating new worlds to which readers (including myself) can escape. I've loved immersive stories my entire life, so being able to create a world like that for other people is really rewarding.

I've just finished outlining the third installment of the series that begins with The Key. I will be starting the actual writing of that soon and, in the meantime, I've been working on editing the second installment.

For me, there could be no other answer than Middle Earth. I would love to travel all over and see the lands that Bilbo and Fellowship saw on their adventures. But most of all, I would want to stay with the elves in Rivendell and Lothlorien. (Of course, this would be before they left for Valinor.)

It depends on the day, but generally in one of two ways. Sometimes I will force myself to keep writing even when I'm not feeling particularly inspired. I give myself permission to write freely, even if I don't think it's very good, and to edit or remove that section later. Often times I find that I end up coming up with some pretty good stuff in those pushes. Other days I will put the laptop down and do something else creative like painting/drawing or music, or something physical, like dancing, yoga, or going for a run. I may even go take a walk in nature or meet up with a friend for coffee- anything to get my mind and body moving, take away the pressure of performing, and get my creative juices flowing. Then I will come back to the story and try again. I've found that often the inspiration we need is outside our doors if we are willing to go out and find it.

Read, read, read, read, and read some more. Read everything you can get your hands on in your preferred genre, but also pick up things you normally wouldn't. That's the best way to learn what's popular in different genres, how to format good stories, and ideas and perspectives to which you aren't normally exposed.
