That's an easy one! My grandfather was a 'man of mystery'. We have one photo of him - we 'knew' his birthdate and scraps of information about his family, but none of the information checked out. He gave his birthplace as 'London' - its a big place!. He was not exactly inconspicuous - 6ft 4ins tall, reddish hair and [from the photo] extremely good-looking. Unfortunately he used at least three names in his lifetime - not helpful when trying to identify someone. Along came DNA testing and 'eureka' - suddenly everything fell into place, detail by detail. I discovered that I had in fact correctly identified him 30 years earlier, but because of discrepancies in official records thought I was on the wrong track. The real story is definitely worthy of a book

I've never 'got' the Horror genre - real life has far too much that is scary or otherwise awful.
How about "The postman delivered the mail. The only envelopes were his bank statement and credit card bill"

I'm not keen on fantasy/sci-fi. The only author who managed to win me over was Douglas Adams, and I prefer his Dirk Gently books to Hitchhikers [no disrespect to Hitchhikers which is brilliant but I found Dirk Gently engaged me more]. Not sure that I'd want to go there though!

I read a wide variety of genres and always have a pile of books in the queue beside my bed . I am currently rotating between Caro Fraser's Caper Court series, C S Sansom's Shardlake series and a variety of 'one-off' things. I also like theatrical biographies, Jilly Cooper's 'Aga sagas' and Jack Higgins' Sean Dillon series

I have to say this does not happen often - my problem is finding time to write so I usually have far more in my head than on my computer but, on the odd occasion, I usually start to work on something else for a while. Writing on a PC or laptop means you can revisit parts of your story in a way that was far more difficult when working on paper

Writing is therapy. You can share your dreams and experiences and hope that someone, somewhere appreciates your writing or learns something from it. I learned a lot about myself while writing Misty

We are always told 'Write about what you know'. Even now that you can use the internet to research things your story will always be more authentic if you have experienced things yourself. Also 'Never give up' - now that self-publishing is so easy there is no excuse!!

As before, I am working on the second part of the Misty Blue quartet but also have a couple of other novels in various stages of preparation

I've always written but am only now getting back into it after a long break while pursuing my professional qualifications and also involved with family matters. I am hoping to be able to spend far more time writing from now on

Its a story I've had on the back burner for a very long time. I found it very therapeutic to write and the characters developed greatly during the writing process to the point where the story wrote itself. I am now working on the second part of what is intended to be a quartet of books using permutations of the same characters and hope to complete that in around six months, although I am also working on other projects at the same time
