Misty Gardner was born in the UK and has had a varied career. Misty left school at 15 after disagreements as to future education and has worked as a bank clerk, a lawyer, a local government officer and more recently as a historian.
While still at school Misty earned a reputation as a writer, penning numerous 'gothic' stories which would then surreptitiously circulate around the class, and it has always been an ambition to publish a full length novel. After receiving many rejection slips in the 1980s this ambition was placed on the back-burner to allow for further academic study.

My grandfather was a 'man of mystery'. We have one photo of him - we 'knew' his birthdate and scraps of information about his family, but none of the information checked out. He gave his birthplace as 'London' - its a big place!. He was not exactly inconspicuous - 6ft 4ins tall, reddish hair and [from the photo] extremely good-looking. Unfortunately he used at least three names in his lifetime - not helpful when trying to identify someone. Along came DNA testing and 'eureka' - suddenly everything fell into place, detail by detail. I discovered that I had in fact correctly identified him 30 years earlier, but because of discrepancies in official records thought I was on the wrong track. The real story is definitely worthy of a book(less)

I love this series - and it just gets better and better!

I enjoyed this - there was so much I could empathise with, but there are a few places where the narrative seems to drag slightly and a few 'loose ends'.
