Judith Lynne Hi Teresa! You have it exactly, right down to some possibly-you-noticed autistic-type traits. I didn't add an author note about it, as I don't feel competent to say I represented it as well as I could or should have, but that was certainly the inspiration. As always, I try to give one or both of my characters a disability - that isn't really their main problem (Victor certainly is undernourished and undersocialized, but that horrible father was his main problem! And perhaps an inability to see past himself at crucial moments!) I hope you enjoyed the book!
Judith Lynne Virginia, thank you! I'm not ready to "cross the streams" at this time, but if you really want to see the (small amounts) out there, drop me a line at my website. And really, thank you! So sweet of you.
Judith Lynne This is going to sound like I am a complete jerk, but for me the best thing about being a writer is getting to read *exactly* the book I want. I love my characters and their stories and I want to read them, and I figure if I want to read them someone else will too. And when they do, that's awesome.
Judith Lynne The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Judith Lynne The third book in this series, which is called "What a Duchess Does", and what may be a midseries book (2.5?) as well. Also the beginning books for two new series, and a standalone. I've never had this many works in progress but some of them I started months ago and they're all working their way towards done.
Judith Lynne I'm almost always thinking about stories I'd like to write, if I have any brain space at all. I have a special ritual I do if I feel like I am really fresh out of ideas, and it never fails. If you mean putting the butt in the seat and writing? I have to have some quiet time to myself, usually early in the morning or late at night, and I open the file and put in the scene I've been thinking about recently. Sometimes it just takes off from there but even if it doesn't, I got that scene done!
Judith Lynne I decided when I wrote "Not Like a Lady" that the inventions Sir Michael was buying from the famous Mr. Cullen in London, were actually coming from MISS Cullen, and the idea went from there. The book isn't at all how I originally pictured it. I don't remember what made me think that perhaps Cass was deaf, but that of course shaped a great deal of the book.
