In a previous job I worked for a bird feeder manufacturer in the marketing department. I loved the hummingbird feeders we created and I loved learning more about hummingbirds. The idea of Ramone came to me as I learned more about childhood anxiety and how children deal with it.

Usually I try to set aside time to write and hope that inspiration comes to me. I will say for the stories I write, they usually keep popping into my head to the point that I need to put it down on paper. Usually the story builds in my head and I can visualize it, but need to figure out the words to create what's in my head. It is a really fun process.

I have several ideas floating around at the moment. I have two stories started, and I need to decide which one I am more connected to. Once I figure that out, I will start to dive into it and shape the story.

Keep at it and believe in yourself! Part of the writing process is rejection, and even though I only have one book under my belt, it is the life lessons of rejection and perseverance that allowed me to keep pushing.

I love creating stories and characters that I think my children will love and relate to, and in turn other children will love them too. Writing children's stories allows me to tap into my childhood and my inner child so I can still be young at heart.

It is an extremely frustrating feeling to have an idea, but be unable to articulate it in a way that will connect with readers. I write rhyming children's books and sometimes the rhymes just don't come as easily. If I can't work through it, I usually step away from the computer and spend time with my family or get lost in a good book. I've learned from experience that the idea will come back clearer if I step away for a bit.

I don't have specific books on a summer reading list. I keep an ongoing list of books I am interested in, and as they are available in the library I check them out. I also love adding new books to my list after hearing about them from friends.
