It’s a mystery to me how my mother raised all eight of us on a shoestring budget, no bathroom no running water, an outhouse, drinking water from a well out back, it was pumped into a bucket and set on a stand with a metal dipper in it. We all drank from that same dipper. We had a bath once a week in a metal tub she put on the kitchen floor. No education, no way to get one. She struggled her entire life, and it’s a mystery to me why she had to struggle to die. She had Alzheimer’s and that my friend is a mystery in itself.

I have been helping other authors, reading their manuscripts when I can. This has been a rough year for everyone. I have lost seven family members this year during the pandemic, five of them in 37 days. first my brother, just 9 days later his wife, my nephew, my niece and 2 more sisters- in- law. and then the mother of my brother- in- law. So suffice to say it is time to live again and re-enter the world of reading and writing. Thanks for the question.

I had a lot of those days . Walk away from the computer take a deep breath . go in a different direction completely . You can always come back to that section in the editing process. Some times thoughts come faster than words. I can't begin to tell you how many times I re-wrote this manuscript.

I think the best thing about being a writer is the feeling of I did it. Right or wrong in my way of thinking I said what I had to say and I am so proud of myself.

If you have something to say to the world write about it. Hopefully someday you will be able to speak publicly about it . Have someone who really cares about your journey, to keep pushing you toward that final page There will be those that say no to you along the way , Your story might not be for everyone but, stay focused on the final chapter . Remember there is nothing like a book,so you might as well be the author.

Although I have always wanted to write , I had a fear of failure. My daughter was the one who looked at the many pieces of scrap paper I had written on and said to me "mom this needs to be put into a story. So I took a class on writing and selling your book at a local college and it slowly began to come together. I know I have something important to say about my career as a stylist. most all of us do and all readers will learn from my words.

It started as a way for me to process all that I had listened to for 35 years, but then when I began to write it turned into a way for me to change the perception of what role a stylist plays in your life. It's not just about hair,
