Kelly Olson I am currently working on a middle grade novel about divorce from the perspective of the same authentic and powerful voice of Maddie.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Kelly Olson After over twenty years of teaching, I was unable to find books dealing with intimate and complex topics with relatable characters for my students. I wrote Chill Out & Stop Making This Weird: A Girl's Survival Guide Extraordinaire to fill this void and provide a framework for children to navigate this tricky part of puberty in a light-hearted, humorous approach. The book provides essential information that tweens/teens want to know, but feel awkward asking. The reader knows what is going on in Maddie's head and heart, and how she relates and copes throughout her pubescent journey.
