Funny, but it happened a few years ago and in stages—I was a finalist in a national contest (this is back when I was writing romance), and at the national conference, I won first place in the romantic suspense category in front of 2000 people in a ballroom where I ran to the stage and accepted my award. This happened in 2014, and my debut novel was released this year, 2021, and is historical fiction. But that win convinced me that with patience, I could make this happen because I am a writer:). Yes! On Ancestry.com I found a photo of my great-grandfather on my father’s side of the family—at least that was what another member of my family claimed. And I believe it, too. He looks so much like my Dad! His name was Rufus, born in Bermuda in 1873. So, very cool.

Oh my! I just now figured out the Goodreads Q&A section. My apologies. I wrote my first story in fourth grade. Sort of a Charlie’s Angels crew—me and my best friends solving crime:). But I really got into writing when I fell in love with The tv show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and starting writing Spike/Buffy fan fiction. I also write Leverage (tv show) and Being Human fan fiction before I started studying the craft of writing:).
