Absolutely! I've gone through a few life changes over the past year and things got a bit crazy, so Roxie had to go on a back burner. I have a novella about Sam's trip to Michigan started, and then I'll be able to jump back into Roxie's world.

Writer's block is THE WORST! The further into the series I get, the more I've experienced this bane. I take a break - watch a show, read or listen to a book, hang out with friends, or just take a walk. Sometimes it helps to clear my mind, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, I just sit and make myself write - even if it's nonsense. I usually end up deleting it all, but sometimes some good will come of it and it will get me back on track.

The fact that I can let my imagination flow freely. That's not often allowed when you're an adult.

Just write. I wish I would have had this advice (and the resources of Google) decades ago. Whatever is holding you back - fear, insecurity, time, etc. - try to get past all that. If it's not perfect, don't worry about it. Read articles on how to improve, join groups for aspiring authors, watch YouTube videos by seasoned pros. If you only have thirty minutes on your lunch hour or in the morning/evening/weekend to write? That's fine. Just write. Every raindrop raises the sea and all that. You can't get to the end if you never begin.

I am currently co-writing a post apocalyptic book with my mentor (which will be written under a different pen name). The story will feature mostly mature individuals versus YA.

I've wanted to write for as long as I can remember. In grade, middle, and high school I wrote short stories. I loved my creative writing and english classes in high school. Then adulthood hit and there was never enough time or energy, it seemed. I would often start a story and not quite know where to go with it. I'm a 2X breast cancer survivor (2002 and 2018). The second time I was diagnosed, it hit me even harder mentally. I decided I wanted to start crossing things off my bucket list. Fifty was coming up fast and my goal was to write something - anything - before that deadline. By chance, I met my mentor through work. We co-wrote the first two books and he keeps me from veering too far off the path (I ramble when I write), brainstorms with me, and is slowly teaching me the ropes. I keep working to improve my craft and learn.
