I love creating new worlds and new characters that never existed before. Being creative in the world of words is simply amazing. I can create anything I want and these worlds and characters can do anything I want them to do, be anywhere I want them to be. It is the best time when I sit down to write out a new scene and see where the story will take me.

I have two words of advice for aspiring writers. The first is to just write. You'll only grow as a writer as you continue to write. Sure, you can read books on writing and watch seminars, but until you start writing for yourself you will not know YOUR voice.
The second piece of advice is to read, specifically read within the genre you want to write in. It's important to stay up to date on the different trends but more importantly to keep you inspired to write your own stories.

Inspiration comes in different forms. Sometimes it is a rainy day and I can sit nice and cozy inside watching the rain while I write. Other times it is a piece of music that overwhelms my soul and gives me the ability to write certain scenes. I am also inspired by other writers. When I read their work it encourages me to continue to write and tell my stories.

The idea for The Keeper came to me in a dream I had several years ago. The dream was so vivid that I can remember almost all of the details to this day. Without giving away too many spoilers, the dream dealt with the loss of innocence and how to regain it. The central figure of the dream was a young man, and it was up to him to correct the wrongs. The dream had magical features within it that found themselves written into the book.

I am currently working on book three of The Keepers of the Balance series. I am also plotting out a new series that I will began when The Keepers is completed.
