Ray Withnall Having a handy Thesaurus is useful when you can't think of a better word, but generally I think you have to clear your mind of daily distractions and immerse yourself in your surroundings. When the words stop completely take a break. If I get stuck I just write what comes in head, have a sleep, and go over the words next morning. Usually a new day brings a clearer mind.
Ray Withnall Writing is hard work but it is great for keeping the mind active and flexible. It's something you can do anytime and with today's technology you can write anywhere. The sense of achievement when you see that first 'not for resale' copy is fantastic.
Ray Withnall My inspiration comes from following up leads from my research. There are so many unexpected and varied events waiting to happen. Discovering new facts and stories and then joining them up to make a coherent and interesting narrative.
