Emma V.R. Noyes The great mystery of why every book I give my fiancé comes back looking like he ran it through a table saw. That man is banned from borrowing my books from further notice.
Emma V.R. Noyes Where to begin! First, don't psyche yourself out. The first sentence you write doesn't need to be perfect. Neither does the second or third. Just start putting your thoughts onto paper without judging them, and you'll find that the writing will begin to flow.

If you're struggling with where to start, my creative writing teacher once said: start with a character and a purpose. A specific person who has a specific goal, whether that's a lost princess trying to regain her kingdom or a hungry child desperate for chicken nuggets. Conflict, desires, and goals are what makes a great story.

Go forth and write words!
Emma V.R. Noyes I don't have any follow-up books planned at this moment, but I never say never! I love the world of the Sunken City and would be very happy to return to it if I have the right story idea.
Emma V.R. Noyes Hi Sri! Thanks so much for your kind words - you have no idea how much it means to me that you love The Sunken City so much. :)

I definitely have YA romance book recommendations. If you're looking for fantasy romance, I can't recommend THE CRUEL PRINCE by Holly Black enough. It's one of my favorites. I also love her book THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST.

If you're looking for YA scifi romance, I absolutely LOVE The Illuminae Files by Amy Kauffman and Jay Kristoff. It's such a unique, thrilling concept.

Finally, if you're looking for regular contemporary YA romance, here are my top 3: TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE, ANNA & THE FRENCH KISS, and BETTER THAN THE MOVIES. They're all so good.

I hope these are helpful!
Emma V.R. Noyes The sequel to THE SUNKEN CITY! The series will be a trilogy. I'm about halfway through the second book right now.
Emma V.R. Noyes The idea for THE SUNKEN CITY came from a combination of things: one, my obsession with everything ocean- and water-related (especially pirates!), and two, the brother love triangle in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. I will forever be a Delena stan. ;)
