Meg Nordmann I'm currently writing a book about our journey to Financial Independence. It is separated into 4 parts:

-Part I: What is the FIRE Movement and what are the typical strategies used by people in this community to achieve it?

Part II: My finance journey/background, my husband's finance journey, and then "our" finance journey when we began pursuing financial independence together.

Part III: The four philosophies that helped us achieve financial independence. Spoiler: Minimalism is one of them.

Part IV: Over 100 ways we cut down our spending and increased our savings rate to 75%
Meg Nordmann -A really engaged Facebook Group thread can get my writer's mind reeling.

-A latte with honey and cinnamon seems to trigger me into wanting to create.

-As does Vince Guaraldi jazz trio music. I've been using that as my trigger for writing ever since college.

-If I wake up super early--like 5 a.m.--and the house is quiet, it is easier to focus and get into a writing groove.

-I challenge myself to write 2,000 words each day when writing a book and it's a bit of competition for myself.
Meg Nordmann I spent the past several years consuming every book and podcast on minimalism that I could get my hands (or ears) on as I worked on decluttering my home and simplifying my life. I had finally reached a point where I was aware of how much more free time I had and how much more present I felt because of the excess I had gotten rid of.

I started noticing the uptick in questions in some minimalism Facebook Groups I was in around the fall--and they were the same questions being asked again and again in every group. It didn't matter whether they were new aspiring minimalists or well-practiced minimalists, they were all fretting over the same obstacles and experiencing the same pain points that happen around the Christmas season.

For a group of folks who are spending the entire year being very intentional about what items come into their home and working hard to declutter anything not serving them, a season where items come pouring in can be very stressful, frustrating and overwhelming.

It occurred to me that there was not yet a book on this particular subject. I'd read short blogs about it or heard it mentioned in a brief podcast interview, but nothing that went more in depth on how to prepare your home, your mind, and your calendar for this busy season that urges you to Buy All The Things and Do All The Things. When I had this realization, I sat down almost immediately and just began writing!
