I take inspiration from everywhere— conversations with students, the news and current events, trends that I see unfolding, comparisons between my own life experiences and those of today’s youth. My writing process is very sporadic— generally, there is very little build up in framing out what I narrate. An idea strikes, and I run with it. Candidly speaking, most of my best work is done off the cuff and in the immediate moment.

I wrote The Overly Honest Teacher to give insight into the world of classroom teachers while seeking to provide tools and strategies for bridging the divide that so often exists between parents and educators alike, creating a more cohesive learning environment for students everywhere— from school to home and back again.
