How do you get inspired to write?

Meredith Essalat I take inspiration from everywhere— conversations with students, the news and current events, trends that I see unfolding, comparisons between my own life experiences and those of today’s youth. My writing process is very sporadic— generally, there is very little build up in framing out what I narrate. An idea strikes, and I run with it. Candidly speaking, most of my best work is done off the cuff and in the immediate moment.
