Obviously, if I'm working on a tight deadline I don't have the luxury of time. But, when I do, try not to force myself to come up with stuff when I'm not feeling it. Instead, I'll go for a walk, I'll take a shower, I'll work out, I'll meditate. I'll do basically anything that pulls me away from my computer for a bit.

Talking to people! I always say I know an article or book passage was successful when I have multiple friends come to me asking if it was about them. The fact of the matter is we all have different versions of the same problem, so I try my best to talk to people and notice patterns in their experiences. Then, I write about those patterns.

The concept of my book really is so simple: for the right person, being yourself is going to be more than enough. That's it! That's the book. In my opinion, it's such a simple and liberating truth, and yet there are no prominent dating books out there that remind us of this. Instead, time and time again, women are force-fed different versions of the same toxic "do THIS to get the guy" narrative. Implicit in that message is the idea that we aren't worthy of love exactly as we are. So, of course, we're going to get insecure. Of course, we're going to get anxious. We're being told over and over again that love is a prize we can't win unless we shrink ourselves down to fit someone else's idea of perfection. I wrote this book to change that narrative.
