Perfect for halloween, but when my sister and I were teenagers, we saw a man dressed in black clothes we considered pre-20th century (but what did we know) standing in the snow. Then he disappeared. When we went to look where he was standing and where he might have gone, there were no footprints anywhere. Who was he, where did he go? Why was he watching us? Were we meant to follow?

At the End of the World started as six related short stories that were part of my NaNoWriMo project for 2018. My editor Kat Howard suggested there was enough in the stories (and left out of the stories) for a novel.
The nugget of the idea for a city spinning through time and connecting to different places and times came out of the blue during a lunchtime walk. I have no idea what led me to it. Sometimes I think the city reached out and tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, "Write me."
