John Alexander Hi, Eric. Tell everyone I said hello and that I miss the discussions, especially now that the Red Wings are finally playing well. Todd McLellan is the difference. Why it took Yzerman so long to get a bona fide NHL head coach is a mystery to me.

I don't check this site much as I'm not active on it. Amazon lists my books here, and that's why I have the page. I just published a new book so I came here to check it; otherwise, I wouldn't even be here on it now.

It was great interacting with the guys. You all are a great bunch. Thanks for everything. Belated Happy New Year to you and all the guys.
John Alexander Hi, Eric.

I'm glad you contacted me. I've felt badly about not participating anymore, but had no way to contact anyone. Here's what happened: The only reason I had Facebook on my computer was to participate in the Angry Mob. I logged on to Facebook one day and my computer froze. This is a problem for me as I am a writer and cannot work without my computer. I took it to the shop and got it fixed so it would work again ($90 and a few days later). Everything was fine until about a week later when I logged onto Facebook to join the group discussion. My computer froze again. I took it back to the shop. The tech didn't know what the problem was, and I couldn't be without my computer and still work, and I couldn't keep paying him to fix it, so he removed Facebook from my computer. Never had another problem like that. I hope you pass that along to the other members and tell them I'm sorry to drop out, but I had no other choice. Best regards, and Happy Holidays, Eric.

John Alexander I always want to write. I don't need to be inspired to do it. I've heard that writing is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. That's probably true. Writing is much easier with the advent of the word processor, although many fine writers prefer longhand. With the word processor, you can write down different ideas and then delete where needed, or store it and go in another direction and then come back later and combine the two if desired. Once you start writing, the ideas should start flowing. The first order of business is to sit down to write. If you wait for inspiration you may never get started.
John Alexander If you have a passion to write, if you'd write whether you got paid or not, then do it. If it's drudgery, or if you wish you were doing something else, then do whatever else it is you want to do. I believe that one of the reasons people have a passion to do something is because they have a gift in that area. I don't think people have a passion to do something that is difficult and frustrating.
John Alexander Doing what I love doing. I've wanted to write since I was a kid, but I followed a different career path and wrote when I could. Now I write full-time. I'd like to be successful and make money, of course, but just being able to write and publish is gratifying in itself. I have an active imagination, and writing allows me to explore that. I have no interest in writing non-fiction.

In his book, On Writing, Stephen was asked how much of what he wrote was for money. "Not one word," was his reply. Another nice thing about being a writer is that it doesn't cost anything. If I wanted to be a carpenter or an auto mechanic I'd have to invest a lot of money in tools and equipment. Not so for writing.
John Alexander So far that hasn't been a problem.
John Alexander I'm writing a third book in the Zeke Halstead, U.S. Marshal series. The first two books were well-received. I like Zeke's character and enjoy writing about him.

Similarly, I like the Vince Ricino, homicide detective, character. I published SEASON OF THE SERIAL KILLER in April 2022, but after a couple low ratings, I re-evaluated the book, decided to pull it in July and do a re-write. After substantial changes, I republished the book in October to better ratings. I see much promise in a series with the homicide squad characters, and look forward to beginning a second book.
