I'd like to be successful and make money, of course, but just being able to write and publish is gratifying in itself. I have an active imagination, and writing allows me to explore that. I have no interest in writing non-fiction.

In his book, On Writing, Stephen was asked how much of what he wrote was for money. "Not one word," was his reply. Another nice thing about being a writer is that it doesn't cost anything. If I wanted to be a carpenter or an auto mechanic I'd have to invest a lot of money in tools and equipment. Not so for writing.(less)

John Alexander If you have a passion to write, if you'd write whether you got paid or not, then do it. If it's drudgery, or if you wish you were doing something else…moreIf you have a passion to write, if you'd write whether you got paid or not, then do it. If it's drudgery, or if you wish you were doing something else, then do whatever else it is you want to do. I believe that one of the reasons people have a passion to do something is because they have a gift in that area. I don't think people have a passion to do something that is difficult and frustrating.(less)

SEASON OF THE SERIAL KILLER

It's mid-April 2025 and the baseball season is upon us. A word or two about my book SEASON OF THE SERIAL KILLER. I did NOT want a gory story, so I made the killer a poisoner to avoid that.

Readers should know it's a mystery-thriller, not a sports book, although there is some baseball in it.
