The best part was definitely following Keenan around on his journey.
As for hardest part, it wasn't as hard as one would think, but only because it's set 15 years prior to the events of The Techno Mage. But at the same time, I had to do a lot of research to make sure that the events of The Techno Mage lined up with the ones in Rise of the Sky Pirate, and vice versa. I have a few Easter Eggs in Rise of the Sky Pirate that people who have read The Techno Mage will pick up on, and I had to make sure they aligned.

I'm a very bare-bones drafter. I have to get it all out of my head first, then I have to add the description, internal dialogues, embellishments, etc.
I typically draft, revise, send it to my alpha readers, edit, send it to my beta readers, edit again, send it to my editor, make corrections, send to proofreader, corrections again, then I'm done.
For the self-publishing process, I hired a author coach who walked me through a 12 step process for The Techno Mage, and I basically repeated that process for Rise of the Sky Pirate.

It started with an online RP that never really went anywhere. So I shelved the characters and the idea, and pulled them out again during NaNoWriMo 2012.
