Doug Kane Not very well, thank you. This is what happened with God Dust. I had to set it down and come back to it. As far as short-term block, I get up, walk around, do something, or call someone who is willing to discuss it.
Doug Kane Coming up with ideas that you can mold into a story to share with others. The feeling of accomplishment even if you are the only one who owns a copy.
Doug Kane Well, for starters you gotta write, and you need to have a story to tell. Once you get going you will know if it feels right. It takes discipline...one line at a time.
Doug Kane God Dust. A bit of a slow go. Ideas flooded in after my initial outline which changed everything...hopefully for the better. That'll be for you to determine. Meanwhile, please take a look at Broken Cure. Thanks
Doug Kane It came naturally, whatever that means. After high school I studied music. I'd been writing (not so good..) songs since the sixth grade. I mention that because it tells me I had a creative side to me all my life.
Doug Kane When on a run. That's often when I'm receptive to creative thought. God Dust ideas came to me about halfway through Broken Cure. I'd been fascinated by the story of how Reelfoot Lake in west TN was formed in 1811 during a massive earthquake originating from the Madrid Fault. The area is also 'infamous' for the escapades of a local vigilante group known as the Nightriders. The story primarily takes place in current times but is tied to this bit of history.
