I write down short phrases I like and hear that are thought-provoking or melodic in some way. Sometimes I come back to them, sometimes I don't. More often than not, I'll at least I get some writing practice out of them. That's often what starts my creative gears spinning in the background. Before I know it and with some luck, all that subconscious work gives me a whole poem seemingly born from thin air.

Having a creative outlet for expression and reflection and hearing from readers that my words spoke to them and helped to heal them in some way. I love that writing can have a life of its own for the reader beyond what the author had imagined.
