It was a call from God. He gave me freedom from depression and the call to share the story.

I haven't given this much thought as I'm not a mystery genre fan. But right now, depression as a mystery story seems eerily interesting.

Sometimes, I sit in front of the computer and try to work through it. But the best thing for me is to turn away from what I want to write and work on something else. That usually triggers a new direction for the work that was blocked.

That's not a complicated question, but I am working on a number of things. I am working on a novel titled "David the Prophet King." Another novel about St. Peter and a gambling addict from our present day, titled "Feed My Sheep." I am working on a non-believer version of "The Branch and the Vine," titled "The Joy at the End of the Tunnel."

I am a man of faith. An idea to write comes to mind, and I evaluate whether it fits the character of the God I have come to know and to whom I have surrendered. If I hear Him say (not an audible voice), "Write a novel about King David," I research and write. If I hear, "Write a non-believer version of "The Branch and the Vine," I set about finding a way to do that.
Stephen D Edwards
The idea for "The Branch and the Vine" came more like a call than a simple idea, and I felt compelled to write it.
