This is an easy question - it would have to be Narnia. I had fallen in love with the Chronicles of Narnia by page 2 of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I don't think I have ever fallen out of love with that magical world. What would I do there? I would join the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and search for the missing lords..... what an adventure that would be!

Much of my reading currently seems to be connected with the family biography I am researching. I have just started Under A Gilded Moon by Joy Jordan-Lake. This novel is set around George Vanderbilt and his extraordinary project to build Biltmore House in North Carolina - a true story of 'The Golden Age' and one connected with my great uncle who married Cornelia Vanderbilt. Then it will be back to Egypt to reread Amelia Edward's wonderful memoir A Thousand Miles up the Nile.
