Edie Little Set a timer for 20 minutes and either research, write, or get your notes organized. Often you will find that once you start, you fall into the zone . . and off you go for hours of productivity.

Be content that you've put 20 minutes into your writing. Then take 20 minutes off to do your "to-do's" in life, i.e., exercise, the laundry, or reward yourself for staying on schedule by lying down and reading your favorite novel for the 20 minutes.

Hint: Before you take your 20 minute break. Take note of what you were doing and where you are. Often I'll leave myself a note "start here" so that when I come back to write, I don't have to wonder where to start. Making a note of what you want to work on when you come back from a break allows you to totally disengage during your break.
Edie Little Finding my people. It's a big world. Books are where I find people I relate to best, and by writing I allow others to find me.
Edie Little Know why you are writing. Work within your strength. Learn what you must, but don't stray too far from your best performing zone. You will know when you are in the zone when you get so excited you have to take a break.

Edie Little I get inspired by interviewing people with intriguing life stories, strong opinions, and a passion for life.
Edie Little Many of these adventures are my own, but not all. I was inspired to write the book because no one else was telling the story of the ma and pa smuggling era from the female/family point of view.

I saw a chance to turn true stories into teaching moments combining entertainment, a true depiction of the attitudes and time in history, with an underlying serious message about generational dysfunction and the boomerang effect that results in unintended consequences.
