Amy Dong I'm currently recording my audiobook for Twenty-One Years Young: Essays.

After that, I'll begin collecting stories for another collection of essays I am to write about life in the 20s and early 30s--and how we should aim to find meaning in this next stage in life.
Amy Dong Three pieces of advice:

1) Read a lot and take notes of the kind of writing you love (and want to emulate).

2) Discover the kind of writer you are. Are you a sporadic writer who can only write in sprints when inspiration strikes? Are you a deadline writer who needs fixed dates in the future to push you along? Or are you a slow and steady writer, who needs to write 500 words a day in the morning?

3) Just do it. On a blog, in a journal, for a magazine or media source, for a book...find opportunities to practice your craft anywhere and everywhere you go.
Amy Dong Writing is something I do not because I want to but because I have to. To me, it truly is a form of therapy, and I love it because it gives me a sense of meaning, comfort, and clarity when I desperately need it.
Amy Dong I set aside my notebooks and pens and I read. A lot. All good writers are, first and foremost, good readers. I read essay collections, poetry collections, and creative nonfiction from authors I admire and wait for that chapter, paragraph, or even singular line that pulls me back into my own writing journey.
