Bring as much energy and focus into your writing day. Write every day, even if it's a struggle. Don't be too tough on yourself. Writing as a profession is hard work. But don't punish yourself when its not working. Enjoy what you do!

I don't see writing in such black and white terms. I have good writing days and days when it's a struggle. For me, it's important to work everyday but mix things up when the juice isn't flowing. That might mean stepping away for a walk or putting a scene aside for a few days to let the ideas sink in better. It might mean working several projects at once so the material feels fresh when I sit down to write.
