I don't believe in writer's block. It happens when I make the writing process too important. I tell student in my writing classes to turn off the perfectionist and"write ugly and droll". Another reason is that characters lack clearer goals and objectives. Bring them to life and they'll tell you where to go. Lastly, to quote Raymond Chandler... when all else fails have someone what into the room with a gun. ;)

Writer's block is a fantasy to me also. It must be an obsession for perfection by some writers. I question what I put on the page, but I can always find something to try. Writing is like splashing paint on a canvas. You don't know if it is right until you put something down.

This reminds me of something I heard in an art class once... Art exists within limits. On canvas, on a blank wall or a hunk of clay, paint or charcoal, animal vegetable or mineral. Writer's block is a breakdown in clarifying the limits of character, plot, tone, etc. Good to hear from you Rand, hope you WiP(s) are going well. :)

No one way. I read alot, watch Ted talks. Something catches my imagination and off I go. Releasing this book has been good for me because I have had to write guest blog posts. I have had to create my own inspirations rather than tripping on them.

I have a collection of witch dolls. I bought one witch doll and accidentally left if in a friends car. For awhile we wrote emails back and forth with me writing in the voice of the doll. That became the prototype for Elena. Got interested in Lithuanian paganism and changed from witches to priestess. One thing led to another.
