The simple answer to this is people.
People are full of surprises, they can catch you unawares, possibly more so when you think you know them really well.
I also prescribe to the school of thought that I have heard some of my favourite authors talk about; that some of the stories in my life are so outlandish that were I to attempt to recount them, you would not believe they were true...
Thus fiction has to be tempered and made to fit our preconceptions - it has to be believable or it loses the reader.

Find something to write.
I aim to write at least 2,000 words when I sit down to write and that's pretty much every day.
There is always something you can write.
So, find ways to write and don't put pressure on yourself.
We are, most of us, our own worst enemies and create obstacles and distractions from what really counts. Find ways to manage that!

Actually, I'm a bit miffed with myself this time around. Ideas seem to bubble up as and when and the trick is to grab them by the scruff of the neck before they slip away. This time I got a bit complacent and convinced myself I'd remember the idea as it was so obvious to me.
And then it was gone...
Thankfully, I had other ideas that I did note down.
