I also prescribe to the school of thought that I have heard some of my favourite authors talk about; that some of the stories in my life are so outlandish that were I to attempt to recount them, you would not believe they were true...
Thus fiction has to be tempered and made to fit our preconceptions - it has to be believable or it loses the reader. (less)
