I've not written a blog for a while now, so I thought it about time.
It's also about time I published another book.
This not for the wont of trying. I have a completed book that is awaiting my attention, but then I was called away to write a horror novel.
Half way through the horror novel there was an even stronger call from another novel. This one, the one I've been writing today, is about a forty-something bloke trying to find love. Mostly he's trying to find a way to be in the world in order to find that love and that takes a bit of doing...
The break from the horror was needed. It's intense bringing the darkness into the lives of two unsuspecting characters and sometimes I wonder whether I'm being fair. Perhaps I'm afraid of any repercussions. Karma might get the wrong idea and exact some punishment upon me in order restore balance.
Maybe I'm preempting that by writing a lighter hearted book before returning to all that darkness.
Other than that, I've written nearly forty shorts that are available on Reedsy. I'm finding the five weekly prompts fit the bill for me. Some weeks click with me more readily than others, but so far, I have not come up dry and if anything, I sometimes reign in the urge to write more shorts.
