Kelly Hawkins Another great question - thank you! I knew I wanted to share what I have learned working in education over the last twenty-two years with others. This book is the culmination of the helpful techniques others have taught me, the positive and negative aspects I have experienced first hand in my teaching career, and the information that I wished someone had told me prior to becoming a teacher.
Kelly Hawkins Another great question - thank you! I think any writer is inspired to write by a few different things. The first source of inspiration is reading all kinds of writing by others. Exploring a myriad of genres and a large variety of authors is a great way to become inspired. Read things that you think you normally would not like, because you may be pleasantly surprised.
Another way to become inspired to write is to complete some writing projects and share them with others. Once you receive some positive feedback, it builds your self confidence and encourages you to write more.
The last place where authors find inspiration is daily life - the events, the relationships, the failures, the victories, the mundane, the exciting... if you observe the world around you carefully, you will find inspiration just about anywhere.
Kelly Hawkins Another great question - thank you! I am currently working on recording the audio book version of my book, 50 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT BEING A HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER. I hope to write another book for the 50 THINGS series in the near future and pursue some voice over work in addition to more freelance writing projects.
Kelly Hawkins Another great question - thank you! My advice would be to try all kinds of different types of writing. You never know what you will like (or will not like) until you give it a go. There are so many genres. There are also so many ways to share your work with others. Make connections with other aspiring writers, join writing communities, read books about writing, watch videos or master classes created by authors. Learn all you can about the craft and enjoy every minute of the learning process.
Kelly Hawkins Another great question - thank you! There are so many wonderful aspects of writing. If you view it as an art (and not a chore or a job) it completely transforms into a magical world where you are the artist. You can create anything! If you decide that you want to alter that creation, you can! You are in control of the worlds you make. Then, once you are happy with those worlds, you have the opportunity to share them with others.
Kelly Hawkins A fabulous question - thank you! Writer's block plagues us all once in a while. I usually take a break and distract myself with something else other than writing to free up my mind - a walk, a crossword puzzle, a play session with the dog, etc. At other times, I complete some quick free-writes about various topics (not worrying about proper spelling or grammar) just to get some thoughts down on paper.
