Aimee Walker Two years after I resigned from vocational ministry to write full-time, writer's block hit me hard and I had an identity crisis. Who was I to write? Why was my voice needed? I mean, there were so many amazing writers and Bible teachers out there already, who was I to think I had anything to add!

God had to bring me back to some foundational truths about who I am in Christ (spoiler alert: there's a whole chapter on this in "But I Flourish"!), and remind me that ultimately I am called to serve Him and be obedient to what He is asking me to do. What He chose to do and grow from my obedience was up to Him. This brought so much freedom to my spirit and released me to get back to doing what He had asked me to do: write.

Writer's block still hits, but I'm much more equipped now to combat the lies the enemy throws my way. And if all else fails, I take a shower--that's where I get my best ideas!
Aimee Walker I am currently working on a new Bible Study resource with one of my colleagues at The Joyful Life Magazine and entering the planning stages for my next book which I'm hoping will release early 2023.
Aimee Walker This book was birthed out of a season that did not feel fruitful. I was disappointed, disillusioned, and wondering why loving Jesus was not making more of a difference in my life. Then God issued me an invitation with a single word: Flourish. This word took me on a journey of discovery and I began to study the Scriptures to see what they had to say about 'flourishing'. It was then that I discovered David's statement in Psalm 52:8 "But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of the Lord." If there was a 'but' then there had to have been obstacles that made flourishing an unlikely reality. And if he could flourish against all odds, couldn't I also?

The answer, I discovered, was 'yes'! I deep-dived into a study of David's life, of Psalms 52 & 92, and the three trees that they compare the growth of the righteous to: the olive tree, the palm tree, and the cedar of Lebanon. And as I did so, God graciously took me from wilting to flourishing--even though my circumstances did not change for quite some time.

In that season when life did not feel fruitful, I longed for someone to come alongside me--a spiritual mama to hold my hand and show me the 'how' of flourishing. I often felt alone in my struggle. And that’s why I wrote this book. I don’t want women to feel alone in their desire to flourish. I want to come alongside them and through the words of this book, allow the hard-learned lessons of that chapter in my story to bring strength to others. Together, I want us to strip back all the preconceived ideas we have about what flourishing is in order to understand it from God's perspective. Because that's when things really begin to change--when God's truth becomes the lens we see our lives through.

No matter where you find yourself at this time, I want to remind you that by God’s grace, growth is always possible and purpose can be found in every season. You can flourish.
