Larry Denninger I most certainly am! (Don't forget - we were comic book collaborators too. Long live Star Rider!) The novel has quite a few shout outs to the old hood, as well as other Rochester locales.

Great to hear from you - haven't heard from many Sacred Heart and Aquinas friends over the years. I hope you and your family have been doing well.
Larry Denninger I try to power through it, and when that doesn't work, I'll do another activity such as exercise, play piano, or work on a different project. Eventually the dam breaks, and I get back in the flow.
Larry Denninger I tend to avoid revealing details about current projects - it's a superstition, in a way: does saying anything about current projects cause them to be cursed in some fashion? It's silly, I know - but there it is.

I'll say this much: the central characters are a married couple.

Oh no! I'm cursed!! :-)
Larry Denninger Songs for Clara grew out of my love for classical music, and the capacity of music to affect our emotions, memories, and relationships. A great illustration of this is Chopin's Prelude No. 4, as exhibited by Benjamin Zander in a TED Talk from several years ago. Watch it - it's amazing. That video served as one of the inspirations for my book.

Music has the ability to connect us as well as divide us, and my hope is that readers will come away from Songs for Clara having experienced both realities as portrayed by the relationship between Frank and his father.
Larry Denninger A wide variety of books, from Charles Todd to Brandon Sanderson, from Cormac McCarthy to GK Chesterton. Epic fiction such as "Kristen Lavransdatter", and non-fiction such as "The Lost Pianos of Siberia." From classics like Dante's "Inferno" and Percy's "Love in the Ruins", to newer books like Tim Powers' "Forced Perspectives" and George Saunders' "A Swim in a Pond in the Rain".
