I used to live in a house that had a large number of unexplainable things occur. If it wasn't haunted house, I'd sure like to know what it was. I think a haunted house mystery could be a fun thing to write.

In the parking lot at our veterinarian's office. It just popped in my head as I was sitting and waiting for curbside care for the cat. I started writing this book on the notepad of my iPhone. You really never know when the mood will strike. It's never a bad idea to have a device handy to get your ideas down.

Knowing that the people who enjoy your work get to see a little sliver of the marvelous world which starts out as only part of your imagination. There is a sort of procreative power in bringing characters and worlds to life. To be able to share them and have people be excited by a story that is so deeply a part of you is really something special.

I take a break and focus on something else. Then I sit and start writing. If it starts to flow, great! I it doesn't, I use my time productively doing something else and try again later. The real trick for me is sitting down to do the writing. Once I do that, the rest, thankfully, seems to take care of itself.
